Elsa Hsieh

Elsa Hsieh is a Toronto-based artist who performs and teaches an eclectic mixture of music. She began her piano studies at the age of 7, and has over 30 years experience performing, as well as teaching beginners and advanced students. She studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire, UK, and was awarded 1st prize in the Wales Piano Competition in 1988.      

She has received high praise from the former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, and was presented with the Recognition of Music Contribution Award in 2004 at her “One Moment In Time” concert. She has volunteered her time conducting choirs, and was selected as the choir conductor in the 2007 Toronto Evangelical Crusade. She was the awardee for both ‘Absolutely Fabulous Women’ & ‘Dancing Damsels’ in 2017, and is currently an ambassador of ‘Women of Diversity’. 

Elsa formed the Dolce De Soleil Music Group in 2015, which has performed at numerous multicultural events including Canada 150, St. Paul’s Senior Home, YeeHong Senior Home fundraising concert and the Hamilton Symphony Orchestra – 30th Anniversary event.  Dolce De Soleil Music has also been selected as a Chinese performance group for the City of Mississauga’s 2020 Canada Day Performance and 2019 Canadian federal election banquet art group. 

She was the MC of Beauty of Asia 10th gala event, as well as the image consultant working with the past winners. Her 2018 successful performance in a Markham Chinese gala concert was highly regarded by the Mayor of Markham, and was broadcast via Xinflix TV media to China. She was also the music director for the 2019 federal election fundraising dinner gala.

Her ‘Night of Stars’ concert at Xinflix Media reached a highpoint for the instrumentalists, solo singers and band with a wide range of repertoires both in Chinese and diverse Western cultures. She is the music director for the Xin Tian Di Culture Centre, Jia Hua Culture Center, Dolce De Soleil Music Children’s Choir, Mississauga Chinese Choir, and President of the Signature Divine Group. 

Elsa is the winner for 2018 both of the  Absolutely Fabulous Women & Dancing Damsels Outstanding Women Achievements,  2019 Toronto Waterfront Awards for music and was the finalist for the Mississauga Marty Award as Established Instrumentalist. Dolce De Soleil Music was also the finalist for the Marty Award for Emerging Music Group.  

She has organized and performed at a variety of events. She co-organised a very well-received peace concert with Waterfront Magazine in September of 2019 during the International Peace Festival. Elsa was the main organizer for the Christmas Angels Concert in support of the 2019 Salvation Army – Toy Mountain Campaign – collecting more than 300 toys, an accomplishment which was featured on CTV News. Elsa has been appointed the exclusive organizer for the International Legend Art Festival in 2020 by the Madrid Spain AsiaEuro Association.  

Elsa is involved in charity work, donating her time and performances to such organizations as the Salvation Army. She was appointed as the Community Outreach Director for the IdealMe Enrichment Foundation, as well as the peace ambassador and  executive music director for the International Peace Festival. Elsa’s “Peace for all ” will be featured as the theme song for the International Peace Festival on September 2020.  

Her featured performance at the Upper Canada College fundraising concert for Sick Kids Hospital was a great success. She was also the conductor for the China National Anthem for the 2019 United Nations fundraising. Early in 2020, Elsa’s team was featured in Mississauga Living Arts Centre, Oakville Performing Arts Center & Markham Theater for the Chinese New Year gala performance.  

Elsa is a news reporter for the International Art News as well as the host for GoLive Dolce de Soleil Music TV show.
